Violinist Sara Matayoshi has earned recognition for her artistry as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician, making her solo debut with the Midwest Young Artist's Orchestra in 2002. A former member of the Chicago Civic, Madison Symphony, and Atlantic Symphony Orchestras, Sara is thrilled to be joining the Knoxville Symphony! Sara has performed at various festivals including Spoleto U.S.A., Lyricafest, Kent Blossom Music, the Banff Centre Masterclass and Orchestral programs, Internacionales de Musica de Guimareas, Meadowmount, and Garth Newel Music. Ms. Matayoshi has collaborated with artists such as Aaron Berofsky, Anthony Davis, Tom Meglioranza, Robert Merfeld, and the Arabella Ensemble. Most recently she has been a member of the Juventas New Music Ensemble and SKY piano trio. Sara holds a B.M. from Northwestern University and M.M. and G.P.D from the Longy School of Music. Her teachers include Vartan Manoogian, Gerardo Ribeiro, and Laura Bossert. In addition to her musical activities, Sara is also a Forrest yoga teacher and hopes to share and practice this passion with the Knoxville community!
