Jennifer Barnett, Soprano
Ms. Barnett is originally from Greeneville, Tennessee, attended Emory & Henry College in Virginia and received her Master’s Degree in voice from Indiana University. Her roles while at Indiana included Ms. Jessel, Despina, and Susanna. Ms. Barnett has appeared with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra in Mozart’s Requiem (2010), Carmina Burana (2007), Tri-Cornered Hat (2004) and with the Chamber Orchestra singing two sets of American songs: Bowles’ Blue Mountain Ballads and Bolcom’s Cabaret Songs (2009) and in Mozart’s Impressario (2006). Ms. Barnett recently performed Beethoven Symphony No. 9 with the Symphony of the Mountains (2013), with the Young Musicians Debut Orchestra during a two week tour of China (2012), the Bangor Symphony Orchestra in Maine (2011) and with the Oak Ridge Symphony in Dvořák’s Mass in D (2007). Upcoming performances include Carmina Burana with the Symphony of the Mountains and Bangor Symphony in 2014. She is currently employed by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra as the Director of Education & Community Partnerships. Her awards include an Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera Council Regional Auditions in 2003 and the Bank of America Award for Excellence in Education and Community Engagement in 2006.
