FromSpringfield,Vermont, Cathy Leach has played trumpet with the KSO for 23 years. She has performed with the Toledo Symphony, the New Mexico Symphony, the Orchestra of Santa Fe, the Orquesta Sinfonica del Estado deMexico, the Detroit Symphony and the St. Louis Symphony. Chamber music groups she has been a member of include the Galliard Brass Ensemble, the New Mexico Brass Quintet, and currently the Brasswind Quintet (the faculty brass quintet at the University of Tennessee), as well as the Monarch Brass, an all-star female brass group comprised of outstanding female brass players from all over the world. She received a bachelor’s of music education at theUniversityofMichigan, a master’s of music at theUniversityofNew Mexico, and her doctorate of music in trumpet performance and Pedagogy atNorthwesternUniversity. Leach enjoys running, weightlifting, reading, studying languages, needlework, and she is a professor of trumpet at UT.
