Renae Dishman is a senior from Oak Ridge, graduating with Berean Christian School's Independent Study Program this May. She has played clarinet for eight years and currently studies privately with Mrs. RoAnn Romines and Mrs. Carol Z. Shane. In addition to three years as principal clarinetist in the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra (KSYO), Renae has also participated in the Knoxville Christian Youth Band's Symphonic and Jazz Bands and the KSYO Woodwind Quintet, and has been fortunate to regularly sit in the top three chairs at regional and state band and orchestra clinics over the last five years. When she isn't tooting her clarinet in a wide variety of venues, you can also find her playing piano on her church high school ministry's worship team or performing bagpipes with the Knoxville Pipes and Drums. Outside her musical endeavors, Renae enjoys honing her photography skills, as well as hiking, camping, fishing, and getting first-hand paleontology experience through volunteering at the Gray Fossil Site and Museum. This fall she will attend college to major in clarinet performance.
