Catherine Rothery is in her 3rd season as principal flutist of the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra. She was a member of the 2010-2011 Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra where she
received an honorable mention in the 2011 Scholarship Concerto Competition. She ended the symphony season by playing in the Side by Side concert with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. She was principal flutist in the 2011 University of Georgia Summer Music Institute. Catherine has participated in Georgia All State and District Bands each year since 6th grade. This year, she is busy competing in local and regional scholarship competitions. Catherine studies with Christina Smith, principal flutist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Catherine teaches flute out of her home to several middle school students.
As an alumna of the Atlanta Youth Singers of Callenwolde, Catherine still enjoys singing. She is on the worship team at church and has been the jazz singer for the high school jazz band for the past 2 years. Catherine is a 15 year – old junior at Harrison High School. She has been accepted to Kennesaw State University as a 2012 full time duel enrollment student. Catherine is also a Georgia High School State swimmer and involved in math and Latin clubs at her school.
