Knoxville Symphony Orchestra 75th Anniversary Commemorative Exhibition

Statement of Purpose

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with the Arts & Culture Alliance, developed this exhibition to display artwork inspired by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra in celebration of its 75th Anniversary season (2010-2011). The selected art will be exhibited at the Emporium Center for Arts & Culture in downtown Knoxville.

Eligibility

Submit only original work completed within the last two years in the following categories: Painting (oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, digital, and mixed media); Graphic Arts (pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, conte, colored pencil, and printmaking); 3-D (sculpture, ceramic, and fibers); and Photography (color, black and white, digital).  Work must fit through a 60” x 120” doorway and is not to exceed 50 lbs. unless arrangements are made.  Works must be suitably framed/mounted and WIRED for installation.  3-D works should be sturdy and stable or otherwise secured to a base.  The juror reserves the right to disqualify any work not suitably presented or that varies from the submitted image.  All work must be for sale.

Entry Fees

The nonrefundable entry fee is $10 per entry (Arts & Culture Alliance members pay $7).  Download a membership form at www.knoxalliance.com/join.html.  Diptychs and triptychs are considered one work.

Entry Procedure

Works are juried by digital images only.  Each 2-D work may be represented by one digital image, and each 3-D work may be represented by up to three separate digital images: two full views and one detail view.  Send digital images as JPG files (no PowerPoint or slideshow formats) on CD (no DVD), at least 1-3 MB in size (or at least 1600 x 1600 pixels) each, or e-mail entries to Stephanie@knoxvillesymphony.com (no more than 5 MB in size).  Indicate artist name on CD.  CDs will not be returned.  Entries must be postmarked by Friday, August 20, 2010.
