Young People's Concerts in Knoxville
The KSO presents two sets of educational concerts annually to 12,000 Knox and surrounding county public and private school students.
These concerts are one of the most unusual and imaginative programs available to introduce kids to classical music. The young audiences travel to the Knoxville Civic Auditorium to experience a live orchestra concert geared toward them.
The programs are catered to third through seventh graders.
The one-hour concerts are comprised of music and stories specially selected for younger ears. During the performance, narration and exciting visual elements such as slides, video projections, props, lights, and costumes are utilized to enhance the performance, stimulate the students' interest, and plant the seed for further music education growth.
The Young People's Concerts are a first-time symphony experience for many children, so the KSO does its best to make a positive and abiding impression.
To prepare the students for the upcoming concert experience, all classroom teachers are provided with cross-curricular study guides and compact discs of the concert selections. Educator Resources
