Appalachian Ballet Company (ABC), under the direction of Amy Morton Vaughn is an Honor Company with the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association, Inc. and is currently in its 47th season. ABC has commissioned original music, performed countless world premiere ballets and sponsored professional guest artists and master teachers in an effort to enrich the cultural lives of our audiences while developing the talents of our local artists. ABC’s repertoire includes Swan Lake, Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, Carmina Burana, Scheherazade, CinderellaThe Little Mermaid, and Peter Pan as well as many original works and story ballets. ABC has proudly made a commitment to use live music as often as possible. The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra has performed with the ballet company for 45 years. ABC has performed at the Riverside Dance Festival in New York City, the Spoleto Arts Festival in Charleston, South Carolina, and the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi.

ABC has performed for The Regional Dance America National Festivals in Houston, TX, Pittsburg, PA., Montreal, Canada and Phoenix, AZ. In 2010, ABC was named Resident Dance Company at the Clayton Center for the Arts, which is located in Maryville, TN. Appalachian Ballet Company also performs at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium, The Historic Tennessee Theatre and The Bijou Theatre. ABC is proud of their production team Jan Valenti, John Horner, Julie Spivey, Katherine Dorner, Yvette Herzbrun and Marilyn Dwyer as well as a supportive Board of Trust and Parent Guild.
